The program provides the theory and practice to maintain, troubleshoot and repair biomedical devices, as well as guidance on the management of this equipment, such as budgeting and procurement. Both courses are applicable in low-resource settings.
The first course focuses on biomedical devices that are frequently used in a hospital setting. In this course you develop the skills required to effectively maintain and troubleshoot hospital-based devices to increase their availability and usage in hospitals. You will be able to understand how to reduce repair time and cost by applying effective maintenance strategies and practices.
In the second course you will advance and strengthen your knowledge as a healthcare management professional in effective methods of managing the life cycle of biomedical equipment in a challenging low-resource environment. You will learn skills such as procurement, budgeting, pilot testing and methods of disposal of the biomedical devices.
