Twice a year, in the spring and fall, learners have the optional opportunity to spend one weekend in person on the Washington University campus in St. Louis, Missouri. During this program, learners meet with faculty and peers, network with local law firm and organizational professionals, take a 1-credit elective course, meet with federal and state judges, and observe live court hearings.

Concentrations
Online MLS learners at Washington University School of Law have the ability to choose one of five concentrations to specialize in, and as such increase their own credentials, marketability, and credibility. Learners can pick their concentration once they’ve first completed at least 9 credits after enrollment. The five concentrations are as follows:
- Business law: Gain the knowledge you need to make decisions regarding negotiations for business transactions, drafting contractual and agreements, or interpreting legal regulations.
- Conflict resolution: Learn methods for managing conflict in business negotiations, the workplace, and disputes, and for finding solutions.
- Employment law: Explore the processes behind recruiting, hiring, and employment contracts, and gain a deeper understanding of the relationship between employer and employee.
- Litigation: Study pretrial and trial preparation, as well as cross-examination, and master the elements of litigation and civil procedure.
- Regulatory compliance: Learn the legal foundation necessary to implement workplace policies, interpret legal regulations, and analyze contractual agreements.
Admissions
In order to apply for an online MLS at Washington University School of Law, learners must have earned a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. GRE and LSAT scores are not required. For qualified students, scholarships may be available. Upon completion of the program, learners will have earned 24 credits and will receive an online Master of Legal Studies (MLS) degree.
